This past week during ISM, I focused most of my efforts on the completion of my final product. After talking with Dr. Cain about certain aspects of my final product, I knew I wanted to make some adjustments that would be necessary in making my final product as diverse and accurate as possible.
Because both of my procedures of Botox in the glabella and forehead region would be similar, I decided to do both a neuromodulator and dermal filler procedure to introduce some variety into my product. As a result, I ended up changing certain aspects of my patient sheet in order to include these changes and to include the respective diagrams as well. The anatomical structure of the face area was a big help in creating my visual aids this week. The majority of my work consisted on making these diagrams after doing sufficient research and I included images of anatomical structures and included pointers to include where the filler and Botox would be injected along with some useful notes. I plan on including the culmination of my notes and diagrams onto my patient sheet so it can be as realistic as possible.
Creating these anatomical diagrams revealed the importance of structure in facial plastic surgery procedures. By knowing certain muscles and components of the body, a plastic surgeon can produce the most effective result while allowing for a reduced chance of complications. Through making these diagrams, I not only was able to further my progress on my original work, but I was able to see the first hand value of structure in determining proper injection placement and minimizing complications.
