In ISM this past week, I completed two research assessments that served as key focal points for the creation of my original work.

My first research assessment pertained to the filler rhinoplasty which I had research in depth previously and I had learned a lot about with my mentor visits. The filler rhinoplasty article provided me with a great visual that will aid in my original work and my understanding of where the filler is inserted in order to give the patient the ideal nose type. Furthermore, it propelled my future search for more articles. I have now completed the nasal dorsal hump portion of my original work, therefore, I now need to complete the additional research over how plastic surgeons enhance a droopy nose and other nose types.

In addition to learning more about the nonsurgical rhinoplasty, I researched my first article over a surgical rhinoplasty. This article discussed the fixing of a crooked nose and proposed a new method known as the forty five degree cut at the L-strut of the nose. Through taking notes and reading this article, I learned new and valuable information that allowed me to have a basic understanding of how a plastic surgeon manipulates the nose in order to straighten it and provide a positive result.

This past week, I also bought the clay that I will use to create the visual depiction of the nonsurgical and surgical procedures for my original work. I am excited to get started and to produce a project that will only further enhance my knowledge of the plastic surgery field!
